Diversity & Inclusion

At Nine, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects and responds to the diversity of our audiences.

We know from experience that the best ideas are born when we bring together the most creative minds and create an environment for them to thrive. By supporting our people to express their authentic selves, we create better content, tell more original stories, and contribute to a stronger media landscape for Australia.

Nine's Communities

At Nine we are a vibrant and diverse group of people, and it is through the celebration of different backgrounds and experiences that our employee-led Nine Communities (also known as Employee Resource Groups) were born.

These Communities connect people with lived experience, allies and those who share similar interests; fostering an inclusive culture that reflects our values and purpose.

Our Communities include:

  • Nine's All Abilities Community - supporting and advocating for people with differing abilities including physical, mental and neurodiverse attributes. Focusing on the opportunity to help drive change for people and initiatives at Nine.
  • Nine's Cultural Diversity Community  - connecting and bringing together people with diverse cultures, languages and faiths with the opportunity to help drive change for these groups and bring awareness through initiatives at Nine.
  • Nine's Gender Equity Community - a group of people who are passionate about gender equity at Nine and for society in a broader context, with the opportunity to help drive change and support initiatives at Nine.
  • Nine’s Pride Community - driving change for LGBTQIA+ people. Connecting with allies and those with lived experience to represent different perspectives through the work at Nine while striving to make Nine an employer of choice for the queer community.

Nine's Cultural Diversity Community Cookbook

What better way to celebrate the cultural diversity of our team than through food? The Share Table is a unique cookbook created by Nine’s Cultural Diversity Community, featuring recipes contributed by employees from across the company.

Women in Technology+

Women in Technology+ is a grassroots initiative devoted to diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, driven by the team at Nine. The initiative aims to support women and non-binary members of the tech team, in all stages of their  careers through their mentoring, training and career development.

Nine announces partnership with Inclusively Made - certification of the Paralympic Games broadcast

As one of Inclusively Made’s founding partners, we’re so proud that this recognition highlights Nine’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and accessibility at every level of production. From behind-the-scenes crews to on-air talent, people with disabilities played key roles in bringing the Paralympics to audiences across Australia. We also created roles for members of Bus Stop Employment to work behind the scenes to be a part of this monumental broadcast.

Nine’s First Nations strategy initiative and partnership with YarnnUp

YarnnUp is an Aboriginal-owned consulting and training organisation. Together, we are embarking on what we hope is a transformative journey to develop a comprehensive First Nations Engagement Strategy and Reconciliation Action Plan, continuing our journey towards reconciliation.

We're excited to have YarnnUp provide significant and important advice across our program of work, lifting our own capabilities and the experience of our First Nations employees and the wider community and audiences we serve.

Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

We're committed to a safe, respectful and inclusive Nine. From day one, you'll be encouraged to bring your whole self to work and will be supported to perform at your best.

We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disabilities, and of all ages, genders, nationalities, backgrounds and cultures as we recognise the importance and value of diverse perspectives. Should you require any adjustments to the recruitment process, please advise us when you apply.
