Diversity & Inclusion
At Nine, we are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects and responds to the diversity of our audiences.
We know from experience that the best ideas are born when we bring together the most creative minds and create an environment for them to thrive. By supporting our people to express their authentic selves, we create better content, tell more original stories, and contribute to a stronger media landscape for Australia.
Nine's Communities
At Nine we are a vibrant and diverse group of people, and it is through the celebration of different backgrounds and experiences that our employee-led Nine Communities (also known as Employee Resource Groups) were born.
These Communities connect people with lived experience, allies and those who share similar interests; fostering an inclusive culture that reflects our values and purpose.
Our Communities include:
- Nine's All Abilities Community - supporting and advocating for people with differing abilities including physical, mental and neurodiverse attributes. Focusing on the opportunity to help drive change for people and initiatives at Nine.
- Nine's Cultural Diversity Community - connecting and bringing together people with diverse cultures, languages and faiths with the opportunity to help drive change for these groups and bring awareness through initiatives at Nine.
- Nine's Gender Equity Community - a group of people who are passionate about gender equity at Nine and for society in a broader context, with the opportunity to help drive change and support initiatives at Nine.
- Nine’s Pride Community - driving change for LGBTQIA+ people. Connecting with allies and those with lived experience to represent different perspectives through the work at Nine while striving to make Nine an employer of choice for the queer community.
Nine's Reconciliation Journey
Nine embraces its role in Australia's Reconciliation journey, and is committed to transformative actions of cultural inclusion and respect in partnership with YarnnUp.
By walking together with First Nations peoples, we seek to set new standards for cultural integrity and leadership, contributing to a unified and reconciled Australia. We are on a journey, and we recognise that there is work to be done which will take some time as we build our understanding and cultural capability.
Nine's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy
We have launched our DEI strategy for 2026-2030 to build a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace.
At Nine, our purpose is simple: to connect people through storytelling. Diversity is fundamental to this. Our audiences span a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and experiences. We want our viewers, readers and listeners represented in stories, news, and entertainment.
Women in Technology+
Women in Technology+ is a grassroots initiative devoted to diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, driven by the team at Nine. The initiative aims to support women and non-binary members of the tech team, in all stages of their careers through their mentoring, training and career development.
